A Visit That Changed Everything:
In December 2024, I returned to my village in southern India — a place filled with childhood memories, where I first learned to read and dream. I visited my old elementary school, hoping to relive those simple, joyful days. But what I saw left me heartbroken.
The one-room school building stood tired and crumbling. Children sat on floor-level benches, some without proper notebooks, and none had ever touched a computer. There was no internet, no digital resources — just a chalkboard, a few textbooks, and a teacher doing their best with what little they had.
It hit me deeply — how could these bright young minds compete in a world racing forward with technology, when they didn’t even have access to the basics?
That moment changed everything.
Determined to act, I bought a computer, a projector, and arranged for a high-speed optical fiber internet connection for the school. By the end of January, we held a dedication ceremony — a simple, beautiful gathering where the entire village came to celebrate. The joy on the children’s faces, the gratitude in the teacher’s voice, and the hope in the eyes of the parents — it was unforgettable.
When I returned to the U.S., I couldn’t leave that moment behind. I knew this was just the beginning.
That’s why I founded the Shikshana Seva Foundation — to bring digital education to rural children who need it the most. Our mission is to provide one computer, one projector, and an internet connection to 100 rural schools in India.
